A brief bio
My name is Emmanuelle Botte and I'm the founder of ManuScribes.

In just two years, I have collaborated with over 16 research institutions across three continents, I have advised researchers from all career stages, and helped them publish their research, including in high-impact journals (e.g. Nature Microbiology, Nature Communications, PNAS).
Through my work, I fulfill my goal of educating younger generations to ensure that they keep writing. As a fun activity, I write the Environment column for the South Sydney Herald, and I also sit within the Scientific Advisory Board of the Alma Dal Co Foundation.
After 19 years in Australia, I currently live in France, where I enjoy hiking, and regularly contemplate the idea of dusting off my German, or learning Spanish!
Credentials
As a scientist, I published 26 peer-reviewed articles (including one as first author in Nature Communications), a testament to my expertise in life sciences (biology, biochemistry, ecology, genetics, evolution).
I am a member of the International Society for Microbial Ecology (ISME). I have deep expertise in the field of marine microbiology (with a soft spot for sponge research, as you can see here).
I earned an international accreditation for scientific editing, by the Board of Editors in the Life Sciences (BELS).
I am an active member of the Australian Institute of Professional Editors (IPEd) and the Mediterranean Editors and Translators (MET) organisation.

I'm French-Australian by birth, and I grew up on tropical islands, fascinated by the ocean.
After completing my PhD in marine ecotoxicology, I worked as a marine microbial ecologist for 13 years at the Australian Institute of Marine Science and the University of New South Wales in Australia.
As I progressed in my career, I increasingly enjoyed transforming good data into a solid and compelling story. On top of producing my own documents, and with a perfectionist attitude towards writing, I helped countless friends and colleagues write their project proposals, cover letters and papers.
In 2023, I decided to leave academia, I earned an International accreditation as an Editor in the Life Sciences, and I founded my own business to work as a scientific advisor, writer and editor.
